Robert Kubica heeft door zijn enorme crash tijdens de Grote Prijs van Canada zijn been gebroken. Verder heeft hij geen ernstige blessures opgelopen. De Pool crashte hevig toen hij met meer dan 250 km/h de muur raakte. Hij was bij kennis toen hij werd afegevoerd naar het ziekenhuis. Het is waarschijnlijk dat de testcoureur van BMW, Sebastian Vettel, hem vervangt. Ook de tweede testrijder, Timi Glock, is een goede kandidaat. Met een gebroken been zal Kubica zeker tot en met de Grote Prijs van Engeland afwezig zijn, dus de komende drie races.
