Nadat Markus Winkelhock afgelopen weekend het racestoeletje van ex-spyker coreur Christian Albers overnam, zal nu

Sakon Yamamoto dit voor de laatste 7 races van het seizoen gaan doen. Hij zal het seizoen dus uitrijden voor Spyker F1. Yamamoto maakte vorig jaar zijn Formule 1-debuut bij Super Aguri, als opvolger van Franck Montagny. Hij eindigde met de SA06 niet hoger dan de zestiende plaats. Dit jaar is Yamamoto testrijder van Super Aguri en is hij actief in de GP2-klasse, waarin hij rijdt voor BCN. Bij dat team is hij de teamgenoot is van de Nederlandse Chinees Ho-Pin Tung. In de GP2 heeft Yamamoto dit jaar geen punten behaald.
