EDIT:Onlangs had Game Chronicles.com een interview met Infinity Wards top-man Vince Zampella, waar een heel gek, maar erg vet aspect aan de orde kwam. Hieronder een stuk waar het zogoed als over een co-op gaat.

GCM: What's new this year for multiplayer? Will you be re-mastering any old levels using the new engine, and will there be cooperative campaign play?

Vince Zampella: It’s a mix of favorites from the original brought into the new engine plus levels from the new single-player game and some original multiplayer levels, about a dozen multiplayer maps in all. There will be no co-op gameplay, but it will happen eventually.

Persoonlijk zie ik een co-op helemaal zitten!

Er zit dus een co-op mogelijkheid in COD2.

Degenen die niet weten wat co-op is: dat je samen met vrienden (online dus) tegen de "ai" vijand kan spelen. eig de sp campaign overdoen.

Hier nog wat verdere info:

The new level is called "The End of the Beginning." You'll start outside the city of El Daba, Egypt on November 6, 1942. You and a few other British soldiers are riding in the back of a transport truck. Ahead and to either side are other trucks and a handful of Crusader tanks. As you drive through the desert, you'll notice German and British planes mixing it up in the skies above you. Slowly, through the shimmering haze, the city of El Daba appears before you.

The trucks stop just inside the city as a machine gun opens fire from a window on the other side of the street. Soldiers scatter and someone calls for you to flank the Germans by heading around to the right. The alleys and streets of El Daba are all protected by large numbers of heavily armed, well protected German troops. Finding ways around them is key to your survival. You'll make your way down a succession of streets before you can actually start assaulting some buildings that lie between you and the coastal artillery guns you've been sent to neutralize.

Assuming you can successfully negotiate the MG42-covered alleyways and the grenade happy garrisons inside some of the buildings, you'll actually reach your objective at the docks. The series of four artillery guns are very heavily defended, both by soldiers behind rows of sandbags and by riflemen on the rooftops. Thankfully, a few red barrels happen to be been left in the vicinity of the defenders' positions.

If you can neutralize all four guns, you'll then have to find a radio to call in a strike by the fleet. If you can manage to get a view of the docks as you call in the strike, you'll get a real sense of just how well the Royal Navy does its job. From here you'll merely need to travel to another building inside the city to retrieve some important documents. Needless to say, you'll have to fight nearly every step of the way.

The AI in the demo is pretty remarkable. Though the tactics are pretty consistent from game to game, the AI can throw a few surprises your way from time to time. Seeing a roomful of Germans come charging right at you when you throw a grenade into their position really gets your heart racing. The game still seems to rely on triggers for certain actions but these scripted events create such a sense of excitement that you don't mind seeing them again and again.

There are some new touches to appreciate here. For one thing, there are a lot more grenades flying around in this demo than in the previous game. It makes the action much more explosive (literally) and a good bit more challenging. To compensate for the more dangerous nature of the environment now, you'll have little icons that tell you when you're near a grenade. A small grayed-out grenade icon appears in the center of the screen with an arrow pointing in the direction of the grenade. This makes it a bit easier to run for cover when the time comes.

Another neat change is that your enemies can sometimes seem to be dead even when they're not. If you manage to pop a couple of rounds into an enemy, you may see him drop his rifle and fall to the ground. In the previous game that meant he was out of commission. Not so in Call of Duty 2. In this game that enemy can still pull out his sidearm and begin firing at you on his back. Though it'll definitely aggravate you to get shot by someone you thought was dead, it's a really nice touch that adds just that much more excitement to the game.

The demo also allows you to play around with the smoke grenades. The new Zfeather effects create a very credible cloud of smoke that obscures your vision. Though they're not as convenient or immediately reliable as the regular fragmentation grenades, the new smoke grenades can give you some much-needed concealment when you need to cross a dangerous open area.

You can tell from the screenshots that the new demo looks fantastic. The smoke and particle effects are particularly nice but you'll also appreciate the great textures and lighting. Everything has a very dingy, realistic appearance, from the soldiers' uniforms to the crates lining the sides of the streets. Soldier animations are also handled very well. As you might expect, the demo sounds awesome as well. The cacophony of battle is really captured quite well here. Men are shouting, rifles are cracking, grenades are exploding all around you.

If you were a fan of the first game (or of action games in general) you definitely need to check this one out for yourself.

Morgen komt hij dan uit in de US. Bij ons op 4 november. Eindelijk ik begin me een beetje te vervelen.

Alleen ik vind het zo laat of niet? Meestal zit er toch nooit zoveel verschil tussen? Ik vind Het maar raar? \

Ik zie op verschillende sites 4 november staan dus ik neem aan van wel.
